Irène was born in 1937 in Ste. Amélie, Manitoba, the eldest of 16 children. As a teenager, Irène left to pursue her education in Winnipeg to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. While working in Winnipeg she met the love of her life - Maurice. They married in 1957 and celebrated 50 wonderful years together.
Family and faith were the cornerstones of her life, values she lovingly instilled in her own children. She cherished family reunions, whether they were intimate gatherings or large celebrations filled with nieces, nephews, and cousins. Irène especially treasured the annual getaways she shared with her sisters - a tradition filled with laughter, love, and lasting memories. A warm, sociable, and deeply compassionate person, Irène had a remarkable ability to connect with others. Her genuine interest in people and her generous spirit made everyone feel welcomed and valued. Simply put, she was a joy to be around and left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Seine River Retirement Home, Golden Links Lodge, WRHA Nurses and Health Care Aids for their compassionate and exceptional care they provided for Irène.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, 135 John Forsyth Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Mary’s Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2N 3Z6 (204-257-9947).

For as long as I can remember our parents were friends. It was guaranteed that when they got together you could hear them laughing from every corner of the house. They’ll all be reunited now and a generation has passed. Irene will be missed but her memory will live on in her family and friends. Rest in peace Irene. Our sympathies to the Gendron family. - Posted by: Jacquie and Marc Dion (Friends) on: Jun 06, 2025
