Thomas Mulvihill, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother passed away on May 26 at Grace Hospital at the age of 88.
He was predeceased by his wife Pearl, his son Thomas Jr., his infant son Richard, and son-in-law David Young, as well as his parents Ken and Mildred. Sisters Beatrice (Earl) Bauer, Moreen (Lloyd) Pottinger, sisters-in-law Lorraine Mulvihill and Lynda Mulvihill.
He will be dearly missed by daughters Pam (Grant) Collins, Patricia Young, Janice (Martin) Ens, and Nicole Mulvihill (Eric), as well as 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his brothers Dan, Lorne (Helen), Gerald (Lori), his sister Leslie Clark, and his brother-in-law Bill (Bunny) Kuz.
Tom was a hard worker from a very young age. Before age 10 he took on two paper routes, followed by a grocery delivery job to help support his family. He had many stories of his youth spent working at the Fort Garry Hotel as an ‘Elevator Boy’ and later in maintenance. Most of his adult career was spent working for Westfair Foods where he became the General Manager of Display Fixtures.
Tom and his wife Pearl thoroughly enjoyed travel in their retirement, and especially cherished their time spent at the family cabin in Balaton Beach.
Tom had an astounding memory, especially for people. He could easily recall someone he met over 60 years ago. He got a kick out of teasing and joking around with his children and grandchildren, telling them that ‘grandpas were tough’ and could do anything. There was some truth to that claim. Tom could fix or build almost anything – working endlessly on improving his cabin and property. In his later years, he took on woodworking and stained-glass artistry as a hobby, creating beautiful décor for friends and family.
Tom was the patriarch of our family. We will miss his jokes, his home repair tips, his stories, and the joy he took in the accomplishments of his loved ones. His legacy lives on through his large family, of whom he was so proud.
We would like to thank Extendicare Heritage Lodge and Grace Hospital staff for their compassionate care.
A private interment will be held with immediate family.

The Mulvihill family was a friend of my childhood. I knew Tommy as older brother of my best friend, Moreen. Bea was also my friend, just a little bit older. My condolences to Dan, Lorne and the rest of the family. - Posted by: Diane Turner (Family friend) on: May 31, 2025
