NORMAND SYLVESTRE

Normand passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2025, at the age of 67 following a short illness.

Norm is survived by his father Lucien, his brothers - Armand, Dominique, Barrie, his sisters - Lynne and Joanne, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother Noella and sister-in-law Rosanne.

Normand was born in Redvers, SK and raised on a farm near Bellegarde where he attended elementary school. He attended his high school years at College Mathieu in Gravelbourg, SK where he formed many lifelong friendships. After high school, he obtained his Red Seal in carpentry at Red River College and finished houses for Fox Ridge and Sterling Homes in the early 1980s until 1995.

In 1995, Norm moved to the Cayman Islands, and subsequently to the Turks and Caicos where he finished numerous homes and business interiors before returning to Canada in 2009. Norm settled at the acreage in St. Adolphe, where he worked as a window and door installer, before he took a step towards semi-retirement to focus on his newest passion of gardening.

Normand meticulously pursued his passion in carpentry throughout his lifetime and expanded his love of gardening as a member of the Manitoba Master Gardener Association where he pursued "hugelkultur", a unique East European method of raised bed gardening. His passions were his pride and Norm would not hesitate discussing his learnings with anyone he engaged in conversation.

Norm loved travelling internationally with friends or family; always curious to learn.

He loved spending time with family and friends regardless of the occasion, especially playing Catan and Shanghai Rummy.

His quick smile and big heart will be dearly missed by his family, friends and those who knew him.

Norm's Celebration of Life will be held at the Pioneer Hall (345 St. Adolphe Rd.) in St. Adolphe June 14 at 1:00 p.m.
