ISABEL MONICA RADOS

May 1, 1941 - June 6, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Isabel Monica Rados (nee Wilock) on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the age of 84. She died at Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg after a courageous six-month battle with lung cancer.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of sixty-four years, Rudolph Rados, son Larry (Jacquie) Rados, daughter Connie (Brad) Masson, grandchildren Maria and Michael Rados, Ashley and Taylor Masson, step grandchildren Brittany (Aaron) Maister and Stephen (Brittany) Bilash, brother Bernie (Pat) Wilock, sisters Elsie (Robert) Fulawka and Christine (Trevor) Holland, along with nephews, nieces, and many friends. Isabel was predeceased by her father Walter Wilock, and mother, Anne.

Isabel was born and raised in Rama, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1955, where she attended Tec-Voc High School. She had a long employment career, mainly with the provincial and federal governments in the department of data entry. We are so proud of the fact that in 1998 she received a Service Excellence award from Public Works and Government Services, Canada.

Mother Teresa once remarked that not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love. Repeatedly doing small things with great love described Isabel perfectly. Her entire life was characterized by sacrificial love and hard work, to the point that she rarely took time for herself. Her generosity was exceptional; no request for help from family or friends was ever declined by Isabel.

We will always remember Isabel’s incomparable cooking and baking skills. Over the years she has received numerous requests for her very tasty homemade perogies.

Many individuals have commented on Isabel’s kind, gentle, loving demeanor. Often the remark was, “What a lovely lady!” Even when attending her chemotherapy sessions at the Cancer Care Centre, her positive attitude and kind words frequently brought a smile to the faces of the staff.

Although we are devastated by Isabel’s departure from this world, we thank God for the wonderful gift of her presence in our lives. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

Prayers for the repose of her soul will be held at St. Nicholas Tavelich Parish on 2688 Main St. on Sunday, June 15 at 7:00 PM. Her funeral Mass will take place on Monday, June 16 at 11:00 AM, also at St. Nicholas Tavelich Parish.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Buhler Cancer Care Centre, the Urgent Care department, and the 4-North ward, all at Victoria General Hospital. We also wish to express our gratitude to Dr. Brian Sharkey. The care she received was exceptional.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be made to EWTN (The Eternal Word Television Network), a worldwide Catholic broadcast network.

  • My deepest sympathy to Rudy, Larry, Connie and families. Isabel, Rudy and family were good neighbors to my parents and my brother and I many years ago when we all lived in Fort Garry. I was especially appreciative of Isabel continuing to connect with me every Christmas after my parents passed. I will miss that special connection to times long ago and I will miss Isabel and her thoughtfulness and grace. - Posted by: Vivian Sullivan (Neighbour) on: Jun 27, 2025
