WILLIAM (BILL) TYCHOLIS

December 31, 1936 - June 6, 2025

It is with great love that we say goodbye to Gigi, who passed away peacefully at the age of 88.

He will be forever missed by his children, Vincent (Jana), Cynthia (Mark) and Jennifer (Ryan), and his five grandchildren whom he adored, Megan, Rylan, Chloe, Dylan and Sasha. He was predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Nastia, brothers, Mike, Tony, Joe and Walter, sisters, Mary, Justine and Olga. Gigi is survived by his sisters, Ann and Steffie.

Gigi grew up in Poplarfield. At the age 18 he moved to Winnipeg to begin working. He joined the Manitoba Power Commission at the age of 21. His career with Manitoba Hydro spanned 33 years with placements in Gillam and Jenpeg. In 1991 he retired from his position with Haulage Services in Winnipeg. Gigi enjoyed cutting wood and hunting with brothers and nephews in Poplarfield and Duck Mountain. He especially loved his time at Perrault Lake Camp fishing and cooking for numerous family and friends who joined him over the years. Gigi curled in Stonewall and Stony Mountain until 2017. He loved to watch the Jets and Blue Jays until his last day.

A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Extendicare Red River Place and Rosewood Personal Care Home.

Upon Gigi’s request a private graveside service and celebration has taken place in Stonewall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada or the charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • We are so sorry to read of Bill’s passing. We spent many vacations together at Perrault Lake and have so may terrific memories. Fishing in PiPet Lake after going down the railway track with the quad on rails, picking blueberries, having super meals prepared by Bill, Moe & Joe. Bill also invited us to Stonewall to be wined and dined. His yard was impeccable and he always made you feel very, very welcome. Bill always had a welcoming smile and a warm handshake. He has left us with many memories and remembrances of good meals and good times. Ron & Marian - Posted by: Ron & Marian Stefaniuk (Friends) on: Jun 21, 2025
