Berta Maria Pesun passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at the age of 91.
Berta was predeceased by her parents, Johann and Berta, brother Robert, sister Frieda, and loving husband Simon.
She is survived by her siblings, Ilse, Hans (Erika), Erika, and children, Igor (Maureen), Erika (Craig), Simona (Patrick). She was extremely proud of her eight grandchildren, Alexander (Andrea), Deanna, Natalie, Sonja, Helen, Robert, Patrick and Sebastian.
Berta was born in Raab, Upper Austria. At the age of 14 she moved away from home to attend a boarding school in Hallein, Austria to fulfill her dream of becoming a dressmaker. On graduation, she worked for a year in Arosa, Switzerland. Then she moved to Vienna where she completed her masters in fashion design while running a boutique.
In 1960, Berta moved to Winnipeg, Canada, where she met Simon. They were married for 59 years and raised three children. She was a devoted wife and mother. Berta loved walking, biking, swimming, cross country skiing and travelling, which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. After the death of her beloved husband, she returned to Austria, to be close to her siblings and daughter Erika.
Mass of Christian Burial was held in Raab, Austria on June 10, 2025. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Glen Eden Cemetery in Winnipeg on June 25, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.

Dear Family of Berta Pesun. Our condolences on the passing of your dear Mother. Mrs. Pesun sewed a beautiful wedding gown for my daughter Andrea Gwozd-Boitson, in August 1987... Mrs. Pesun was a wonderful, friendly lady, whom we got to know while she was fashioning the wedding gown for Andrea...Nice memory of Berta for us.
