With heavy hearts and gratitude for her long and loving presence in our lives, we announce that our mother Helen Wiebe passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on June 25, 2025, in the Health Sciences Centre. She took her leave after she spent two lovely days with her daughters at her bedside, laughing and joking with nurses and doctors, without pain or distress.

Helen was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Peter; and her son Randy. She leaves her daughters, Sherry and Jacqueline (Saf); daughter-in-law Karen; and grandchildren, Bryn (Zac) and Burke (Emily).

A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 150 Bayridge Avenue in Winnipeg (Fort Garry Mennonite Fellowship). https://us04web.zoom.us/j/158787495.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I've known your dear mom ever since I was about three, I think! I walked over to where they were living at Landseer. There were other family there, I think, and your dad tried his best to teach me how to speak German! It didn't stick but they were lifelong friends of my mom and dad and of the rest of our family. I remember all the visits to Altona to see them. It seemed to take a very long time to get there when I was a little girl. Through the years, there were many visits with your parents as well as all three children. I so appreciated the offer your parents made to me while I was attending the University of Manitoba. My mom called me and let me know that Helen and Pete would like me to stay with them. I was amazed and thankful as they lived so close to U of M. The last time we saw your mom was at our 50th anniversary party that we held in Holland, our old home town. It was so nice of you Jacqueline to drive your mom out to Holland and take part in our celebrations. Little did I know this would be the last time we would see your mom. We'd like to extend all our love and sincerest condolences to all of you Sherry, Jacqueline, Karen and all your family. I'm not certain that we'll be able to attend her service in August but we'll definitely watch the service on line. Much love Wendy & Larry - Posted by: Wendy & Larry Rutherford (dear family friend) on: Jul 09, 2025
