Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMMANUEL JAMES RONQUILLO
Emmanuel James Ronquillo, lovingly known as Kuya Jim, peacefully began his walk with God early morning on Monday, June 30, 2025. As a devoted servant of God, he was surrounded by his wife and children during his passing.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Susan of 43 years, his four children, Christine (Alex), Faith (Erik), Jophiel (Rose), and Angel (Matthew); his grandchildren, Violet, Ethan, Luke, Brady, Jordan, Charlotte, Julia, and Gabriel; and by his siblings, Jillaine, and Jet (Nora), and his nephew Ludwig. He was predeceased by his mother, Rebecca Ronquillo.
Jim treated everyone like family including close friends or a stranger he’d just met. With quiet strength, he led by example showing us what it meant to stay present through hardship, and to find laughter when life got tough.
Jim had a gift for making people laugh. His jokes were lighthearted and always made people feel comfortable and loved. Knowing this, Jim would want us to carry on with laughter in our hearts.
His music was the language of his soul. Sitting at the piano, or directing a church choir, he could turn ordinary moments into something special and unforgettable. His piano playing came straight from the heart beautifully woven with love. His music has influenced countless others which had the ability to connect generations and across cultures.
Jim had 30 years of valued service at Purolator. From 1987 to 2021 he also shared his musical talents as the music and choir director, pianist, organist, at Home Street Christian Church and Broadway Disciples United Church.
With hearts full of gratitude, the family extends their deepest thanks to all the staff at the MICU ward at Health Sciences Centre, whose careful attention and kindness will always be remembered. To our cherished family and friends, near and far, your profound love, prayers, and presence have been a place of strength during these past few months.
We will miss him deeply, but we know that his laughter, music, and bright spirit have left a lasting impact on our hearts - always reminding us that he will always be with us.
The Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, July 19 at 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Broadway Disciples United Church, 396 Broadway Ave. Parking lot AF (directly behind the church) and street parking are available.

To his family, I am so sorry for the loss of Kuya James. He was a kind, helpful, and wonderful co-worker during our times in Purolator. We had a great time together in the office. A little quiet at first but will guide you everyday just like an older brother. Rest in peace Kuya James. - Posted by: Joey B (Former Co-worker) on: Jul 05, 2025

So sorry to hear about James passing. James was a wonderful person to work with before he retired. He was a great trainer and loved to tell jokes. Whenever he told me a joke it would make me laugh and smile. He was an amazing guy from the time I knew him. I could tell he loved music as he would always be tapping his foot while working. So glad I got to work with you James. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. - Posted by: Donna D (Co worker at Purolator) on: Jul 05, 2025

I am so sorry to hear of James’ passing. I was taken under his wing with training in the department he worked in at Purolator when I met him.
