AMY BERNHARDT

Peacefully, with family by her side, Amy Bernhardt, 98 years young, was reunited with her loved ones and the Lord on July 3.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Allan Bernhardt, cherished daughter Deborah Armstrong, and daughter-in-law Cindy Mackenzie.

Amy was born in Carlisle, England, and immigrated to Canada after the Second World War as a young woman. That bold, adventurous spirit never left her. She and Allan shared a love of travel making cherished memories on annual trips to Florida and exploring the open road in their RV. Together, they built their dream home in St. Andrews, Manitoba, where Amy poured her heart into creating beautiful flower gardens. The deep love she and Allan shared was evident in the small, daily acts of care and kindness between them, a quiet and enduring example for all those around them. Amy had a remarkable ability to bring warmth and joy to every space she entered. She formed lasting friendships through her church community, among neighbours, with caregivers both at home and at Betel, and with nearly everyone she met. Her quick wit, generous heart, and love of animals, especially her cherished pets, were constants throughout her life.

Above all, Amy was devoted to her family and deeply proud of her great-grandchildren: Lydia, Reah, Zoey, Rowan, Diem, Carmelina, Frankie, Lennox, and her newest Kollins, born the day of her passing. Her laughter, spirit, and joyful presence will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A private interment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery in early fall. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly encourages donations to a local animal shelter or registering as an organ donor, both causes close to Amy’s heart.
