It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tamira (Tammy) Harris, after a lengthy battle with undetermined illness, on July 9, 2025, at St. Boniface Hospital, with her husband Ed at her side. We have joy knowing that she has gone to be with her Lord and Saviour.
She was predeceased by two children in infancy, Adam Edward and Maria, her parents, Henry and Mary Heidebrecht, brother Paul Heidebrecht, and many uncles and aunts.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Ed; children, Adam and Sarah (Daniel); sister-in-law Priscilla Heidebrecht; siblings, Ruth (Ernest) Epp, Robert (Melinda), Arthur (Shirley), Marlies (Tony) Roziere, Randy (Liz), Karen (Doug) McGregor, and Chris (Ruth) and their families.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 p.m. on July 19, 2025, at Braeside Evangelical Mennonite Church, 1011 Munroe Ave., Winnipeg. Attendees are encouraged to wear something blue to the memorial, if able and willing. Blue was Tammy’s favourite colour.

I was very saddened to hear of Tammy’s passing. I was unable to attend the memorial service as I was out of province vacationing. I knew Tammy who would work periodically at Glenelm School. I always loved seeing her, and her smile would brighten my day. She was always so kind and caring to staff and students alike. My condolences to her family. - Posted by: April Morton (Friend/colleague) on: Jul 29, 2025

My earliest memory of Tammy was when she asked me to help Adam with his reading. He would maybe have been about 5 or 6 years old at the time. Every other week or so, I would go over to their place on Martin Ave and read with him. She recently brought this up while we were chatting and mentioned how she was grateful that I helped him. I also connected with Tammy while Adam was attending SBC and would often give him rides back to Winnipeg from Steinbach (where I worked). She gave me a tin of her homemade chocolate chip cookies as a thank you and they were so delicious that I asked my mom to get the recipe from her - which she willingly shared. At church, my parents were in a care group with Ed and Tammy so I also got to know her that way. Sometimes the care group would have a Christmas gathering and the kids were invited (even grown up kids like me who didn't even live at home anymore.) I remember attending one such event at the Harris home in Elmwood. I was also invited to their camping spot at Birds Hill on several occasions. Anytime I saw Tammy, she always asked how I was doing and I enjoyed our conversations. I most recently saw her on Christmas Eve at my parents' place. She seemed to be doing well and in great spirits, so I was honestly quite shocked when I heard she was in hospital not long after I had seen her. I will miss seeing her around and chatting with her. - Posted by: Melissa Mathew (church friend) on: Jul 19, 2025
