ANNE HOWORTH

Peacefully on July 15, 2025, Anne passed away.

Anne is lovingly remembered by her children: Gordon (Jin), Herb (Jelena), Randy (Deri), and Cindy (Bill); and by her cherished grandchildren: Michael, Ali, Nicholas, Katelyn, Max, Dylan, and Nicole.

She was predeceased by her husband Ed, her parents, Harry and Jean, and her siblings: Bill, Harry, Charlotte, Kathy, Jim, Tom, and Fay.

Anne was born and raised in Novra, Manitoba, in a humble log house without electricity or plumbing. She taught school in Renwer before moving to Winnipeg, where she worked at a bank. It was in Winnipeg, at the age of 20, that she met Ed. They married and built a life together, raising four children.

Anne had a deep love for the outdoors. She and Ed spent many happy days camping - first in a large canvas tent and later in a trailer. Some of her fondest moments were spent around a campfire. In retirement, the two enjoyed travelling, exploring new places.

She was a gifted cook and baker, known far and wide in the family for her legendary three-tier buns. Her kitchen was always a place of warmth, comfort, and delicious smells.

The arrival of grandchildren brought Anne and Ed immeasurable joy. To them, their grandchildren could do no wrong. Days spent with Grandma and Grandpa were filled with books, games, walks to the park, and, of course, plenty of treats.

Anne was an avid curler and golfer well into her 80s, forming lasting friendships on the rink and the course. She embraced life with joy and gratitude, finding beauty in the simple things and sharing that joy with everyone around her.

We are deeply grateful to have had her as our mother and grandmother. Her kindness, laughter, and love will live on in each of us.

Thanks to all of the staff at Simkin Centre for assisting in making her final months peaceful.

We will be celebrating our mom at a private family gathering at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I was so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was such a kind and special person. I can still hear her laugh so clearly - probably because I heard it so often as our families grew up together. She was a dear friend to my Mom and to me. She called regularly to check in on how I was doing with Barry's cancer journey and to keep up with how my Mom was doing. Friends until the end. I know there is a huge hole in your hearts where she lived but your minds will fill that space with your memories of her. Hugs to all. - Posted by: Karen (Muir) Hartley (Friend) on: Aug 03, 2025

  • So sad to hear of your dear Mom's/Grandmother's passing. She was a great friend to both my Mom and I. I remember many long and wisdom filled chats over the years. She loved many things but her family above all else. I was the happy recipient of her famous buns and cookies. Rest in peace Dear Anne. - Posted by: Kim and Kaye Passey (Her favorite hairdresser's) on: Jul 26, 2025
