I always enjoyed our visits with uncle John and Aunt Marlene. They visited us when we lived on the farm near Lavoy, Ab. and they came to my husband John's funeral for which I have always been thankful for. He was a great uncle and I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with Marlene and the family. Love you, from Tena and family. - Posted by: Tena Braun (Niece) on: Jul 22, 2025

My husband Don enjoyed talking with John about camping and travel at the changing of shifts at the firehall. We really met John and Marlene in Mesa, AZ, when we stayed in the same RV Park. They welcomed us into their group there with hiking and other socializing. Over the years we met up with them at the firefighter's dinners, (AZ), camping, cards, lunches and many social occasions over the years. John always teased me with the name 'Shorty'. I will miss John for the kind gentleman he was. My condolences and love Marlene and to all your family. John will be missed. - Posted by: Brenda Boucher (Friend) on: Jul 21, 2025

Thanks for the tribute comments. My dad was a really good dad. He loved playing card games at the fire stations and with the family and my relatives. He also enjoyed camping in summers (at vacation times), and our tree removal business for thirty years. He is with the Lord now, no more suffering and pain. I have my step mom Marlene, good relatives and one brother Randy (age 66) and his wife Wendy. I am 60. We will remember him well. from Randy's brother, Tim - Posted by: TIMOTHY GIESBRECHT (SON) on: Jul 21, 2025

I was stationed with John at 23 Station and other stations where he was stationed. John was a straight up person with a keen sense of humour. It was always a pleasure to work with him and am sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family - Posted by: Dave Brooker (Fellow Firefighter) on: Jul 20, 2025

John and his first wife lived next door to my parents on Ainslie St in St. James. I also worked with John a few summers in his tree/landscaping business. John was always a gentleman, a class act and helpful to anyone who needed assistance. Condolences to his family. - Posted by: Darryl Owens (Previous Neighbour) on: Jul 19, 2025

I don't remember working with John although he looks familiar. Why am I writing this then? Because he is a brother firefighter and deserves Recognition. He is a man of honor who served the citizens of this City for many years. I hope he enjoyed his retirement. My Condolences to his family. - Posted by: Scott Miner (Collegue) on: Jul 19, 2025
