Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGUERITE FLORENCE EDITH DEVUONO
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Marguerite (Peggy) Devuono on July 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Peggy was born April 20, 1928, and grew up in Fairford, Manitoba where her father worked for the railway. She recalled stories of taking the horse and carriage with her siblings to school and back, even remembering the horses by name, Prince and Dan. However, country life was not for her and in her early teens she, along with her sister Alma, made the move to Winnipeg. It was here that she met Michael (Mikey) Devuono who she would go on to marry in January of 1948. Together they would welcome three children, Jerry, Joyce and Joann. Family was of utmost importance to Peggy.
She was so happy to be blessed with nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She could always be counted on to babysit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sleepovers consisted of cookies and tea, chocolate cake, games of checkers and Fawlty Towers. Every Sunday the family gathered at Grandma and Papa’s for cubatoons, meatballs and Pic a Pop. For many summers we would gather at the Oasis for a day of swimming followed by cubatoons and meatballs, regardless of the heat. Peggy had a long career working in the laundry department at Health Sciences Centre. After her retirement her husband became ill, and she faithfully cared for him until his passing in 1997.
She will be greatly missed by her children: daughters, Joyce (Tibor) Guban and Joann (Manfred) Ziesmann; her grandchildren, Shirley, Lindsay, Ainslie and Kat (and their mother Frieda Devuono), Jennifer, Michelle, Michael, Markus and Mathew, as well as her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband Michael, Peggy was predeceased by her beloved son Jerry in 2019 and grandchildren, Sharon (2009) and Carla (2012). She was also predeceased by her parents, Archibald and Mary Gould and by all of her 12 siblings including her sister Alma with whom she remained extremely close to until her passing in 2024.
The family would like to extend our utmost appreciation to lifelong family friends Cindy Skelly and Joey and Lil Gamby who faithfully visited Peggy for years. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg for their care of Peggy over the past two years.
Funeral service will be held on July 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue. Private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
She was the best mother and grandma. Thank you for a lifetime of memories, we will love you forever.

We were so saddened to hear of the passing of your mom. She was an amazing woman who always had a smile on her face. She was always so warm and welcoming and loved to feed people. My brother Gary so loved to be invited to her house with her son Jerry for one of her big spaghetti dinners. He would brag about it before and after the event. I know how much your family will be missing her but what an amazing legacy she left behind. Sincerest Condolences to Joann, Joyce and the entire family. When someone you loves becomes a memory their memory becomes a treasure. She will be missed. - Posted by: Debbie Adamchuk (Family friend) on: Aug 01, 2025

Aunty Peggy & Uncle Mikey lived in the suite upstairs in our house in Winnipeg. They were there when I was born. We had many wonderful years together with Jerry, Joyce & Joann. When we moved to BC, I kept in touch with Aunty & Jerry. They came to visit us & we visited them. I will always have many fond memories of Aunty Peggy. I kept in touch by phone until the last 2 years when she didn't have one but managed messages thru Lindsay & cards. She always had good advice & simply took life as it came. RIP Aunty, I love you. - Posted by: June Archibald & Joan Lavoie (niece by friendship) on: Jul 23, 2025
