REA NESBITT

(WILLOUGHBY)

October 23, 1926 - June 26, 2025

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Rea Nesbitt. She developed pneumonia and died after a brief stay in hospital.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Jack Nesbitt, and brother Ken Willoughby. She will be sadly missed by her four children, Anne, Kathie (Paul), John (Li), Gordon (Sue), 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Rea was born in Regina to Morley and Florence Willoughby. She moved to Winnipeg to attend University of Manitoba where she met her future husband, Jack Nesbitt. Rea and Jack were married in 1949, three months after she graduated with a BSc Home Economics degree. They had many happy years together before his passing in 1998. Rea was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority for over 75 years and was also very active in Fort Garry United Church.

Rea led a very active life and travelled to many different countries. She also spent winters in Arizona, and summers with her family at Clear Lake. We have many happy memories of family gatherings at her cottage. She loved to entertain us with her tap dance routines.

Many thanks to the staff at Brightwater Tuxedo, Grace Hospital ER and Seven Oaks Hospital.

Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, business casual attire suggested.

Service will be live streamed at: https://youtube.com/live/ZT3DscQ20SE?feature=share

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Rea was my neighbour at Clear Lake for my entire life. She was always active, interested, and interesting. She was kind and thoughtful, and had a great positive attitude, so she enjoyed many friends. She had an appreciation for music- like her Mother, and eagerly welcomed a good laugh, like her Father. We are all richer for having known her! - Posted by: Sheila Wall (Friend and Neighbour) on: Aug 07, 2025

  • A great neighbour at Clear Lake. Our condolences to the family. - Posted by: Joan Clement (Friend) on: Jul 27, 2025

  • Rae was a valued member of our Beta Rho Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha. We always looked forward to her stories and seeing her out at events. We will miss her! Sincere condolences to Rae’s family at this time. - Posted by: Patricia Chegus (Sorority sister) on: Jul 26, 2025
