VALERIE GAIL MCIVOR

August 14, 1939 - June 25, 2025

With love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Valerie Gail McIvor on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Gail was born in Winnipeg on August 14, 1939, and spent her life building a home filled with love, laughter, and hospitality. She was the beloved partner and wife of Hamish McIvor, with whom she built a life full of family, friendships, and community. After Hamish’s passing in 1996, Gail later found companionship and happiness again with Peter Rempel, who remained by her side until his passing.

Gail was known for her warmth, resilience, and her deep love for her family. She is survived by her children, Shelley (Jim Caron) and Bruce (Darlene), along with her cherished grandchildren: Ryan and Scott (children of Shelley and Jim), and Owen, Evan, and Austen (children of Bruce and Darlene). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Antonella, daughter of Scott and his wife Eli.

Her door was always open, her coffee pot always on, and her love for family and friends never wavered.

Special thanks to her cousin Mark Hicks and his wife Diane, lifelong friend Pat Knudsen, and her many friends from Barker Boulevard and Buckingham Road. Deepest gratitude as well to the many caregivers who supported Gail over the years - especially Beth, Liza, and Maureen - and to the dedicated staff at West Park Manor, where she spent her final years with dignity and compassion.

A celebration of Gail’s life will be held at The Gates, 6945 Roblin Boulevard, Headingly, MB on August 14, 2025, at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gail’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
