It is with sadness that the family of Herta Kihn announces her peaceful passing at the age of 99 on August 8, 2025, at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.
She is survived by her children: Harold (Linda), Richard (Laurette), Shirley, and Helmut (Alexis); grandchildren: Russell (Jackie), Sandra, and Angela (John) Markley; great-grandchildren: Pascale, Lola, and Nathan; and brother Albert Auch.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Zelmer Kihn, parents, Adolf and Bertha Auch, daughter Elsie, grandson Robert, brother Gustav, and sister Mary Dowling.
Herta enjoyed farm life until the death of her husband in 1975. She learned how to drive, received her drivers license, and became an independent woman. She worked at Frantz Motor Inn until her retirement.
After retiring, Herta enjoyed volunteering at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Steinbach, MB, and going on motor coach trips to Alaska, the Maritimes, Pennsylvania, and various other shorter trips.
She bought a home in Steinbach and enjoyed city life, eventually moving into Fernwood Place and lastly into Cedarwood Supportive Housing. She was responsive until the end, which was a blessing.
The funeral service for Herta Kihn will take place on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 465 Henry St., Steinbach, MB. Burial will take place at the Kihn Family Cemetery, Friedensfeld, MB.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Herta may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
