ROBERT (BOB) MAZER

1950 - July 6, 2025

With deep sadness and immense gratitude for a life well lived, we honour the memory of Robert “Bob” Mazer, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and respected pillar of the agricultural community, who passed away on July 6, 2025, at the age of 75, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Bob’s lifelong passion for farming came naturally. He joined the family’s agricultural equipment dealership at just 18 years old in 1968, stepping up to run the business for a summer while his parents were away. From those early days, his heart was rooted in agriculture and he knew; farming was his calling.

As Bob steadily guided the business, his personal belief was, in any decision making instance, “what is best for the farmer”. That belief shaped every decision he made, rather than reasons of business gain or personal gain. In 1971, he brought the Versatile 4-WD tractor to his market, a bold pivot that transformed the dealership overnight and set the stage for explosive growth.

Under Bob’s leadership over the next 60 plus years, the family business grew into Mazergroup which is now the largest privately owned New Holland dealer complex in North America, spanning 18 locations across Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Over the years, the company gained widespread recognition, including the prestigious North American Dealership of the Year award in 2025, and Bob’s induction into the North American Farm Equipment Dealer Hall of Fame in 2025 - honours that arrived just before his passing and stand as testament to his determination and character.

Colleagues fondly described Bob as a force of nature with his energy and drive whose complete immersion in the business and his unwavering dedication was without question, legendary. He was truly one of a kind.

Bob’s legacy is carried most dearly by his family. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Ed and Florence Mazer, whose values guided him throughout life. Bob married the love of his life and best friend Patti, December 20, 1980.

He was a proud and devoted father to Jon (Logan) and Andrew (Lindsey), and a deeply caring grandfather - “Grandpa Bob” - to Carter and Lauren (Jon’s children), and Liam and Isla (Andrew’s children). His greatest joy was being surrounded by family, whether it was a celebration, a quiet cabin evening, or simply being together during annual family vacations. Two places specifically he held dear - their home in Maui, and their cabin at Clear Lake. These spots were havens where his two greatest joys in life, business and family, existed in complete harmony. In Maui, any day that combined a little tanning, a quick swim, seeing a few combine deals close, fresh seafood to eat, martini in hand, all while surrounded by family was an all smiles, great day for Bob!!

Longtime colleagues and friends recognized Bob’s passion and generosity beyond his role as a businessman regarding him as a builder in every sense. He was someone who nurtured community, innovation, and human connection. His approach from product selections aligned with farmers’ needs to expansions built around authentic relationships was rooted in integrity and heart.

Bob leaves behind a thriving legacy: a strong family, a flourishing business, and a community shaped by his leadership, generosity, and unshakeable principles. He showed us that life’s true purpose lies in caring about the people around you, the community you serve, and the values that guide you.

May his memory inspire future generations to lead with kindness, work with purpose, and love deeply. Bob’s story doesn’t end with his life, it lives on in every acre, every smile, every act of generosity and innovation carried forward in his name.

In his final days, Bob shared that he did not have a single regret about his life. Those words stand as a powerful testament to a life so fully and meaningfully lived. Surrounded by the love of his family and the memories of a lifetime of adventures, Bob left this world with a deep sense of peace and fulfillment. May we all be so fortunate, when our own journeys come to an end, to look back with the same gratitude, pride, and absence of regret that Bob carried with him as he would say, all the way to the end of the runway.
