It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wilma Anania, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, at the age of 91.
Wilma passed away peacefully at 1:50 a.m., August 15, 2025, at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg from an age-related illness and is now with her beloved husband Angelo Anania.
Wilma leaves to mourn with loving memories, her children Giuseppe (Rina), Bonaventura/Ventrino (Norma), Nunzio (Nella) and Angela (Murray); her grandchildren Angelo, Caterina (Andrew), Daniel (Chloe), Andrew (Elyse), Angelo (Charlotte), Samantha and Nathan; and her great-grandchildren Ace, Halo, Mason, Mila , Luca, Emma as well as her sister Norma Scerbo, her niece Daniella and her many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Wilma was born in Nicastro, Italy on March 8, 1934. As a young woman she travelled to Winnipeg to marry Angelo in 1960 and together they began to raise a family in the Fort Rouge area of Winnipeg. Wilma had a wonderfully warm and loving heart and was never happier than when she was surrounded by her family and friends to enjoy meals, gatherings and celebrations. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, music, spending time at the Gimli cottage and she especially loved being surrounded by flowers.
Wilma lived at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for the last two and a half years and while there she was kind and caring to others and made some good friends. We would like to thank the excellent staff on the second floor for their attention, care, and support.
