It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Margaret (Katie) McIntosh on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre in Selkirk, Manitoba at the age of 97 years.
Remaining to cherish Katie's memory are her daughter Shauna (John), sons, Scott (Diane), Jeff (Tanis), seven grandchildren: Tanya, Darcy, Jillian, Jessica, Sarah, Terri and Amber; nine great-grandchildren: Breighann, Kaelen, Mali, Eli, Charlie, Wyatt, Weston, Walker and Hazel; sister Carol Lucas (Eric), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bud, sister Patsy and parents, Percy and Marjory Mewha.
Katie was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on April 20, 1928. She later moved to Winnipeg where she met and married her husband Bud on September 23, 1949. They relocated to Flin Flon, Manitoba and remained there until they decided to move and settle in Snow Lake, Manitoba in 1963. Katie worked and enjoyed her job as secretary/treasurer of the Snow Lake School Board until she retired. She and Bud settled in their retirement home at Berry Bay, nine miles from Snow Lake. In 1990 Katie and Bud were snowbirds to Mesa, Arizona for the winters which they both enjoyed for nine years. After their snowbirding they moved to Red Deer before finally settling back to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2007 to be nearer to family.
In 2018 Katie moved in with her daughter Shauna and son in-law John in St. Andrews, Manitoba where she remained until her passing. Mom enjoyed listening to her music while exercising her legs, watching movies, jigsaw puzzles and her luncheon visits with family in Winnipeg. She also enjoyed our Friday night "game night" with pizza, glass of wine and playing dice. Mom, we are all so grateful for the time we were able to spend with you and will forever miss your laugh, smile and the many stories you shared with us.
In compliance with Katie's wishes no formal funeral service will be held. Mom will be laid to rest with Bud at a later date in their beloved town of Snow Lake where they resided for 36 years.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses, nursing aides and doctors of the Selkirk Regional Health Centre for their good care and kindness to Katie during her short time there. We would also like to thank the Selkirk Ambulance Service for their quick response and excellent care given to mom.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
