Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATIE VISCH
Peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, Katie Visch passed away at 91 years of age.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Carol Visch (Keith), Barbara Neudorf; son Robert (Shawna) along with her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Katie was predeceased by her son-in-law Victor Neudorf (2016) and her husband Henry (2021).
Katie was born and raised in Speedwell Saskatchewan. Her parents and nine siblings moved to Manitoba in 1949 and settled on a farm near Elm Creek. A passionate caregiver, she completed her nursing degree (1957) and married the love of her life, Henry Visch in 1959. Katie poured her life into her family excelling in the role of homemaker so her husband could work at school and church. She enjoyed her home-based business doing decoupage, candles, pottery, and painting. To further cultivate her creative talents, she took various classes and also taught art and craft workshops. She loved decorating spaces - everything from her garden to apartment complex. She volunteered countless hours at MCC thrift shop ensuring the displays and “deals” were attractive. Katie’s zest for life, servant heart and positive attitude touched everyone she met. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy. Katie was a wonderful companion to Henry, and they travelled all over the world especially during their retirement years. Katie enjoyed the last few years of her life at River Ridge Retirement Residence and the family would like to thank the staff for their compassionate care. We are also grateful for the care provided by staff on 4E at St. Boniface Hospital as well as Dr. Martin.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church, 145 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg on Thursday, August 28 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mennonite Central Committee.

It was such an honour to attend Auntie Kay's funeral and to visit with all the Visch and Martens' family members. Kay was such a vibrant person, who made each person she came in contact with, feel important and loved. She will be missed deeply! On behalf of Kay, we have send a tribute gift to MCC supporting the Ukraine Crisis. Love Marg, Walt, Jacquie/James, Carrie/Steve & Sandra/Patrick. - Posted by: Carrie Klassen (niece) on: Sep 04, 2025

I first met my aunt when I was 12 and found her very welcoming. I remember going to see her and my two cousins her daughters play baseball for local competitions. She visited us in New Zealand along with Henk years later and her only complaint was the coins being so heavy. I visited them in 2017and enjoyed sitting chatting with her and Henk at local café and visiting their beautiful apartment. I enjoyed ringing her in later years when she told me what the family were up to which was always lots. After my own parents passed away I read a lot of the correspondence and they were always on adventures and helping others. She will be missed. Condolences to the family. Me and my sister's thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Julian Visch (Nephew) on: Aug 24, 2025

Katie and I were immediate friends when I moved to River Ridge, 2 years ago and that bond deepened when I told her that Mr. Visch taught me and my 3 brothers at River East. She was beautiful, classy, loved her jewelry and especially loved running to the window in the winter and outside in the summer to see her littlest family. I will miss having coffee with her every morning. - Posted by: Charlotte Neyedli (Friend fron River Ridge) on: Aug 23, 2025
