BRIAN BLACKNER

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Blackner, who left us peacefully, surrounded by his family, on August 19, 2025.

Brian was born on November 17, 1941, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His early fascination with automobiles led him into the auto body repair industry at a young age.

He later became co-owner of Erin Auto Body, where he and his partner built a thriving business over many years. Seeking new challenges, he then joined the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation, first as an estimator and later in Quality Control. Brian retired from MPI in 2004.

Brian leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Faye; his son Mark (Deborah); granddaughter Sarah Jamault (Jeff), great-grandchildren who he adored, Trynlee, Jayce, and Blake from Rathwell, Manitoba; nieces, Jill Elder (Damon), Jennifer Carrillo (Alfonso), Erika Kennedy (Brian), and Julie Beecher, all of California. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Arlene Swartz and Janet Kent.

During retirement, Brian cherished time on the water fishing and treasured visits with family in California. His passions included building the family cottage, restoring cars, playing golf, and tending to his home with pride. Brian's caring nature was evident to all, he always placed the needs of others before his own. He will be forever missed by his family.

The family wants to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Eastview Place in Altona, Manitoba, for the compassionate care they provided over the last two and a half years.

In keeping with Brian's wishes, the family will hold a private gathering to celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba (alzmb@alzheimer.mb.ca).
