HENRY DAHL
Knowing he was loved by many, Henry passed at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 72 on August 19, 2025. He always looked on the bright side of life, bringing laughter and positivity to those around him until the very end.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Elaine (née Scalena), their twins, Janelle (Dan) and Jeff (Monique), his father Henry Sr., siblings, Helene Tapley (Eric), Irm Janzen (Willy), Erv, and Hildy Barendregt (Michael). He also leaves behind sisters-in-law, Roberta Dahl, Janet Van Den Bussche, and Linda Lavallee, brother-in-law Jim Scalena (Christine), and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Lina, brother Helmut, niece Monica Dahl, sister-in-law Barb Dahl, parents-in-law, Tony and Anna Scalena, and brothers-in-law, Jack Lavallee and Ron Van Den Bussche.
Born in Volendam, Paraguay, the family immigrated to Winnipeg’s west end in 1960. As a teenager, he proudly began working in residential construction with his father and ended his career in the roofing industry with his son.
Henry enjoyed all sports, from shooting pool at Empress Lanes to bowling 38 years with “Buff’s Boys”. However, his greatest passion was “all things golf”, most recently as a member of Rossmere.
He truly embodied the salt of the earth - a man of integrity, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
A celebration of Henry’s life will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.
The family wishes to thank the many health care providers throughout his journey. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba appreciated.

I met Helen way back in grade 5. To know Helen was to know the family. Henry was already working through summers by this age. Henry built a house for us in Whyte Ridge and it's the best house we ever owned. Henry and Elaine are still names you hear in our house. Good people. So sorry for your loss.
