TED VOSTERS
On August 22, 2025, we lost our beloved brother Ted.
Ted was (in the words of his niece and goddaughter, Nicole), “a quiet, gentle soul and a gem of a human. He lived humbly, asking for nothing, taking things as they came - satisfied to go about life as it was handed to him and with an awing capacity for service to others.”
Ted was a rock to his family - a devoted son, brother, and uncle. He purchased the family home in 2009, allowing our parents to move into a senior residence close enough for dad to drop by, tinker in his workshop, shoot some pool in the basement, and play with his crazy cat Mika (which Ted inherited along with the house). As it had been when our parents owned it, Ted’s home was a gathering hub for family. When his sisters visited, they and their partners were always welcome to stay with him and when his niece studied at university, she lived with him (and said crazy cat).
An electrician by trade, Ted began his apprenticeship with his godfather, Louis Schoofs, where he worked alongside his eldest brother, John. He later worked for over a decade with Comstock before moving on to work as a maintenance electrician at Boeing. Ted’s superpower was diagnosing and troubleshooting. He was renowned for his meticulous workmanship and was considered by many of his co-workers as a mentor, teacher, and “father” to all those in the trade. When his nephew, Justin followed his uncles into the trade, Ted talked code with him throughout his courses and apprenticeship.
Ted was always game for a road trip, from camping entourages with visiting cousins from the Netherlands, to drives with siblings, nieces, and parents to visit out of province family. In 2011 he took to the skies to accompany our dad on what was to be both of their final visits to family in Holland.
We are so grateful to Ted’s doctor, Dr. Joanna Webb and to all his caregivers at the Riverview Health Centre’s Palliative Care unit. It was a huge comfort to us to have him cared for in a beautiful setting that specialized in palliative care.
Ted’s calm, gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew him!
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Anavets Assiniboia Unit #283, 3584 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation’s Palliative Care Unit 3E.

I worked with Ted at Boeing, every once in a while you get to cross paths with someone that shows humbleness despite standing or knowledge, that was Ted . Whenever I was a bind at work that needed something fixed Ted would drop whatever he was doing and get it done as well as with the utmost patience explain in layman's terms why the system failed and the fix. I always remember going to the cafeteria for lunch, Ted would always buy his lunch and then 2 extra orders, one for his Mom and one for his Dad, that was just Ted always looking out for others. They just don't make them like that anymore. Rest easy brother, you have more than earned it. - Posted by: Gerry E Rentz (co-worker) on: Aug 30, 2025

Working with Ted at Comstock and Boeing, you find that there are some people you work with that are honest , dedicated, highly skilled, and motivated in their work, and Ted was one of those people. My Sincere Condolences to the Vosters family. It was a pleasure for me to have worked with someone like Ted. - Posted by: Doug. Cox (friend/co-worker) on: Aug 30, 2025
