It is with great sadness that the family of Craig Smith announce his passing on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 69 years.
Craig is survived by his loving wife Cathy; fur baby Lexi; father Bill; brother-in-law Richard (Marie) Chomokovski; nephews, Steven Chomokovski, Patrick (Aynsley) Chomokovski and Derrick (Alexa) Chomokovski; and numerous cousins. Craig was predeceased by his mother Margaret Smith.
Craig grew up in Transcona (Winnipeg), MB, where his love of sports began. He moved to the west coast where he worked at UBC, got involved with coaching the Westside Warriors Peewee football team, coaching receivers at UBC and then joining the BC Lions. This led to moving and working with other teams in the CFL.
We would like to thank the staff at the Wascana Rehab Centre Hospice for their loving care and support.
There will be no formal funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
