• I am so very sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. My deepest condolences to Susan, their son Colton, and the rest of Doug’s family. I knew Doug when hanging out and partying at The Zoo. He was always very friendly and was well-liked by everyone. I hadn’t seen him in several years, but have thought of him often. He will be truly missed. • Doug and I met when I was given an opportunity to work with the Transport Dept. after having worked with Locations as a PA. At that time, to me, Doug appeared as a silent, stalwart mentor of patience... Oft times, when "things happened", on Set at the Circus, or during Unit Moves, some Crew would be freaking out and in a tizzy... In my memory (as fleeting as it is now), I never perceived Doug to be in such a state. He always seemed To Me as the epitome of Calm, his physical presence a Peaceful reminder of just being. I learned from Doug the value of "holding ones tongue" as I more often than not would speak from the hip unbeknownst of the ramifications such utterances caused. Doug, I am most appreciative for having learned from your example, as a Spirit having a Human experience and not the other way round. Energy, the Spiritual essence of all that IS can never be destroyed, only changed. Doug has made a change from a 3D illusion to a higher level. Become ever Greater in Consciousness Doug! • Doug is one of the best men I know. It was truly a pleasure working and knowing him. He's one of the Fort Rouge boys. We hung out some as kids as well. I'm sorry for the loss to the family, friends, and co workers. He will be missed greatly by all of the community. Rest in peace my friend. • It really hurts to write this. Feeling sorry for all those who loved Doug. The loss to his family, his friends and coworkers…the terms being interchangeable because of Doug’s nature and who he was as a person. Being around Doug always made every situation better, no matter the circumstances. He always took things in stride. He was always able to make a joke when it was most needed. Always had a kind word and a way of keeping things positive. You could always depend on Doug for a smile and a laugh, and it was infectious to anyone lucky enough to be around him. • Doug was first a colleague in the film industry and then soon a friend. I had the privilege of coaching his son Colton in hockey. Dougie was a wonderful man who could relate to most anyone, and his charm and authenticity drew you in. We had many conversations about our changing neighbourhood, our kids and families, and of course about the film business. Dougie often knew what was coming well before I did, and would give me a heads up whenever we spoke. He was a gentle giant it seemed, and I’m so grateful he was in my life. I’ll miss him. My condolences to Su, Colton and family. I know you have loving supports, and I know that Dougie will always be with your soul. • Doug was one of the first of my union coworkers I considered as my Brother. A Reel Brother! I met Doug on my first Show 22 years ago. I always admired his ability to commanded respect at all times with his words and actions. Please and thank you go a long way in our business and he never missed a beat when it came to manners and gratitude. Even when a Hard No was applied. His Kind, “Gentle Giant” demeanour, huge smile, Gigantic chuckle, and enormous heart will be missed by all. I knew that when I was working with Doug, on demanding shows, exhausted and beat down, I would be extremely Safe every day, knowing he would have my back.
