With profound sadness our family announces the passing of Anthony Miller on September 6, 2025, at the age of 92.
From a young age, Anthony’s ambition was to be a physician, and he pursued his goal with unwavering dedication. He graduated from the University of Manitoba School of Medicine as a silver medalist in 1960 and went on to complete his cardiology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic; then moved back to Manitoba.
Anthony was passionate about cardiology and worked tirelessly to stay at the forefront of innovation. At St. Boniface Hospital he performed hundreds of heart catheterizations, many followed by angioplasties and stenting. Many a Manitoban today, live with arteries opened or stents placed by Dr. Miller.
In later years, Anthony collaborated with Dr. David Mymin to establish the lipid clinic, which continues to operate at St. Boniface Hospital.
In 2007, Anthony received the Distinguished Service Award from Doctors Manitoba in recognition of his dedicated care for patients in the community.
Outside of medicine, Anthony loved boating with friends and family on Lake of the Woods. His boating skills were honed through trial and error, with a new boat frequently purchased to overcome the shortcomings of the last. When it became clear boating came with its challenges, the family transitioned to summer condo living.
Anthony also enjoyed many Saturday mornings playing tennis with friends. A fanatic for the best equipment, Anthony often appeared wielding a new racquet, hoping to perform better.
Anthony’s medical fastidiousness blended into his personal life. His personal possessions - boats and cars - were immaculately maintained and sought after by subsequent owners.
Always a gentleman, Anthony was humble and compassionate, and his words of guidance were thoughtful and sincere. His generous spirit left a lasting impression. He will forever remain in our hearts.
Above all, Anthony was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Helen, and his six children; Lynn Fulton (Paul), Danny Miller (Pat), Cathy Miller (Peter), David Miller (April), Janice Lasko (Dave), and Alana Miller (William). He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Please consider a donation to St Boniface Hospital Research Foundation.
A Celebration of Anthony's Life will be held on October 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg. Everyone welcome.
Condolences can be left online.

I knew Dr. Miller very briefly as I transferred to Cardiology right as he was transitioning into retirement. He was a very nice man and it was apparent how well liked and respected he was by admin staff and his medical colleagues alike. My deepest condolences to Lynn and Paul and your whole family on this huge loss. - Posted by: Judi McFarland (Friend of daughter and son in law) on: Sep 21, 2025

My sympathies to the Miller Clan - I had the pleasure of working with Dr Miller for several yrs in the 90s. As good with a wire as anyone Dr Miller was the one who you could trust to always be at his best caring for your heart. As well I was also fortunate to be his neighbor where every Halloween he had the most popular house giving out full sized candy bars:) Godspeed - Posted by: Bruce (Coworker) on: Sep 20, 2025
