Peacefully, in his sleep, Elmer Adolph passed away at Oakview Personal Care Home only days after his arrival there from hospital where he had been since early May. He was only one-month away from his 93rd birthday.
Elmer was pre-deceased, in 2022, by his wife Dorothy who he dearly missed. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
The Adolph family lived in Charleswood where Elmer attended Chapman School. At the age of 10, his mother, Talitha, died and he and his siblings, brother Norman, sister Dorothy and Elmer were left in the care of their dad, Paul. As he got older, Elmer helped his dad in his trucking business amongst other jobs. He quickly acquired many skills. Eventually his dad remarried and Elmer had a half-sister, Annalea.
Elmer married Dorothy in 1956 and soon afterward started a new career in the fur industry at which he became very skilled and enjoyed until his retirement. He was a hard worker, proud of his home and his well tended yard. He enjoyed travelling and entertaining his friends and regaling all with his many stories. He was a proud contributing member of the Charleswood Historical Society. While still in good health, Elmer enjoyed playing golf and was very proud of achieving a hole-in-one on two separate occasions.
Cremation has taken place and his remains will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.

I met Elmer and Dorothy (he affectionately referred to her as “Dodie”) a number of years ago. I would come and cut his wife’s hair when she could no longer come to my place. Elmer had a great sense of humour and I enjoyed visiting with him and Dorothy. He was well read and liked watching sports. He would tell me of the places they had visited. I’m going to miss him. - Posted by: Lisa Plourde (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2025
