It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Susan Kackenhoff, surrounded by family on September 19, 2025, at the age of 89.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Ernie; her son Barry (Lisa); daughter Janice (Dave); and grandchildren Aimee, Ashley, and Matthew.
Born in Dauphin, MB, Susan came to Winnipeg at 18 to work in the city at a legal firm. She met Ernie through a friend of a friend, and they soon married. Susan is the co-founder of Kackenhoff Nurseries Ltd. Susan and Ernie worked together every day for decades, and raised two children, who also grew up and joined the company, as well as Lisa. It has always been very much a family affair.
We can find comfort in knowing that Mom’s legacy lives through the lessons she taught us through the love of family and plants and all these memories we will always cherish.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lung Association.
