It is with sadness that we announce that Joan passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 98 years.
Joan Angela (Chasney) Johnston was born on August 13, 1927, in Winnipeg, Manitoba to parents, Dr. William and Helen (Polec) Chasney. Joan married Doug Johnston on May 14, 1952, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before his passing in 2012.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, and her brother Billy Chasney. She is survived by her cousins Winona Hoffinger and Gary Polec, several nieces and nephews and their families, and many dear friends.
A graveside service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. Those wishing to attend should meet at the Funeral Home and will proceed together to the gravesite.
