DOUGLAS PETERS
It is with great sadness that the family of Doug Peters announces his sudden passing in Cobble Hill, BC, on September 4, 2025, at the age of 73.
Doug was predeceased by his sister Carol, his first wife Barb (Northam) Peters, his brother Harry (Shannon) Peters, and his father Arthur Peters. He is deeply missed by his wife Judith Clarke, his mother Shirley Peters, his daughter Jenna Peters (Jim Woodend), his son Jason (Jenny) Peters, and grandchildren Emerson and Finley. He is lovingly remembered by siblings Bev (barb), Gord (Diane), Pat (Gene) Hyde, Dave (Sharon), Karen (Mike) Bootsman, and Cindy (Paul) Dick.
Born and raised in Rapid City, MB, Doug was the second of nine children of Art and Shirley Peters. He married Barbara Northam in 1974, and together they lived and worked in communities across Canada, including Kitimat, BC; Arvida, QC; Brandon and Pinawa, MB; Deep River and St. Thomas, ON. They retired to Arbutus Ridge in Cobble Hill, BC, in 2014.
In addition to his professional accomplishments working as a mechanical engineer and project manager at Alcan, AECL, and CANDO Rail Services, Doug enjoyed many interests and hobbies including golf, curling, fishing, cooking, wine making, camping, biking and travel. He cherished the friendships made through these activities.
After Barb's passing in 2017, Doug was fortunate to meet Judith Clarke. They married in 2020 and shared many adventures together.
Doug will be remembered for the kind, calm, and thoughtful ways he supported his family and friends, as well as the dedication he brought to his work and pastimes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rapid City & Area Community Fund via bacf.ca. A celebration of Doug's life will be held October 25, 2025 in Brandon - for further info contact family at inMemoryofDougP@gmail.com

I was a classmate with Doug through the four years of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba and graduating in 1974. I would like to offer condolences to the Peters family on their loss. I was fortunate to re-connect with Doug in 2019, and it was a pleasure to see his excitement about his retirement travels and of course his golf game ! - Posted by: Dan Parliament (Engineering Class of 1974 (University of Manitoba)) on: Oct 16, 2025

I remember Doug Peters as a classmate in Mechanical Engineering. We both graduated in 1974. We lost touch as many graduates left Manitoba for better opportunities. I remember Doug as an honest and good natured fellow. My condolences to his family. Grant Wichenko - Posted by: grant wichenko (classmate 1974) on: Oct 09, 2025
