ALEXANDER (SANDY) ROBERT FOWLER
It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Sandy, my beloved husband and love of my life, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sandy leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Judy, his daughters Andrea Haynes (Stephen) and Katie (Richard Lennon), granddaughters Olivia and Clara Haynes, his sister Doris Heaver (Grant), his sisters-in-law Karen Stepaniuk and Linda Malcolmson, his niece Ashley Stepaniuk (Rob Sokalski) and nephews Peter Stepaniuk (Jeff McCurdy), Shea Thevenot (Dani), Jared Malcolmson (Jess Nichols), Alexander Heaver, William Heaver, David Halligan, his grandnephew Tony Forrester-Thevenot and grandnieces Emma and Piper Sokalski. Sandy was predeceased by his sister Janet Fowler.
Sandy grew up in Baldur, MB, where he attended school and participated in a variety of sports. He moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba, where he graduated with an MBA. He spent most of his working career as the Financial Manager at Apotex Fermentation Inc. in Winnipeg.
Sandy enjoyed summers at the Harrison farm, near Graysville, MB and the Fowler cottage at Rock Lake, MB with his family. Together, they made several camping trips across Canada and the US, sightseeing and eating tailgate lunches in church parking lots. Sandy and Judy also had many opportunities to travel together, touring Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Uruguay, Peru, Argentina, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and China.
As a father, Sandy always supported his daughters with everything they did, whether it was helping them out with their schoolwork, coaching their baseball teams, or simply being a listening ear. He also enjoyed taking them for boat rides at the lake, making every effort to knock them off the water tube.
Sandy was never an idle man. Always one to putter around, he was a builder, an electrician, a painter, a carpet installer, and most importantly a children's playtime organizer. He also prepared and filed every family member's tax return, without accepting any form of payment.
Sandy was a quiet and kind person. He offered advice when asked and always provided a helping hand when needed. Those who knew him well will remember his great sense of humor and his smile.
Sandy, you left us all too soon, but you will be forever in our hearts.
Thank you to our families, friends and neighbours for your support. A very special thank you to the 4th floor staff at Victoria Hospital. You not only took such great care of our "Pop", but you also took care of all of us during our visits. We cannot thank you enough - you were our heroes throughout the past seven weeks.
A private Celebration of Sandy's Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba.

I worked with Sandy for a number of years at Barclays Bank.Sandy was a very bright, hard working and disciplined fellow but I most remember his good nature, sense of humour and ability to defuse stressful situations. I still remember his silly puns, infectious smile and laugh. Pam and I offer our condolences to Judy and family. Ken Praznuik - Posted by: Ken Praznuik (Friend) on: Oct 13, 2025

Very sad to hear about Sandy. A story I often tell being a car guy is when Sandy came to Brandon in 1965 driving George’s new Ford Galaxy 500 hardtop. Sandy like all kids from Baldur were not accustomed to stop lights so Sandy wanted me to drive the car while he was visiting in Brandon. That was a big deal. - Posted by: Dan WARRENER (Friend who went to high school with Sandy) on: Oct 12, 2025

My sincere sympathies to you all at this very sad time. Sandy's kind and gentle nature made him a great person to just have a beautiful relaxed chat. He always seemed like there was a joke just in behind his smile that the rest of us were never quite let in on. He radiated joy and peace. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Yvonne Thevenot & Ian Davies (Friend) on: Oct 11, 2025
