Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • Larry was my sister's friend from her high school days and he became my friend. Our friendship lasted for over fifty years. Celebrations and parties were scheduled around Larry's dialysis treatments so that he could attend. When I moved to Ontario, Larry would send me cards covered with happy faces or having funny little plastic figures inside the envelope. Thank you for your friendship, Larry. It was a joy to have you in my life. - Posted by: Lynne Eisner (Friend) on: Oct 19, 2025

  • Mr Krause was my grade 5 teacher at Lord Wolseley in the early 1970s. I remember how thrilled I was because he was just about as groovy a teacher as you could hope to have! His approach was encouraging, lighthearted, creative and very, very funny. I adored him. Sincere condolences to his family and to all his other former students who will mourn his loss. He was just great. - Posted by: Viviana Zarrillo (Student) on: Oct 18, 2025

  • I am writing this message of condolence on behalf of Larry's classmates from General Wolfe / Daniel McIntyre. About twenty-five of us remained together and move collectively through the grades. We were a tight knit group and reunited in 2011 in a fifty year celebration at The Gates. Larry and I also worked on the DMCI Yearbook or a couple of our senior years. In Grade 12; we also became 'outliers' as we split from the rest of our classmates and studied Latin. Personally, Larry and I and Tom Stewart traveled to Montreal to see Expo '67. For ten days we trooped around the site racing to see the best pavilions at gate opening. The highlight was, and especially for Larry, was a live concert to see Diana Ross and the Supremes. Rest easy, Our Good Friend. - Posted by: Tom Dercola (Classmate) on: Oct 18, 2025

  • I worked with Larry at Lord Wolseley School in the 80’s. His classroom was right across the hall from my office. What a super guy, we sure shared a lot of laughs! Larry was every kid’s favourite teacher (my two included). He made everyone feel special, always so kind and thoughtful. I always remember how fondly he spoke of his Mom and his family. And Diana Ross and Mickey Mouse, you couldn’t have had a bigger fan! I have two lovely needlework pictures gifted to me by Larry hanging in my home. I just love them! For years after Larry left Lord Wolseley, he and his Mom would drop off candy apples to our family on Halloween. God love you Larry, may you Rest in Peace! - Posted by: Mary Lynne Montgomery Fischer (Co-worker, Friend) on: Oct 14, 2025

  • Mr. Krause was a teacher of mine at Lord Wolseley in grade 4,(1978-79). I still have four very close friends from my time at Lord Wolseley and we still talk about our days there and how Mr. Krause was our favourite and the best teacher there. He will be missed. RIP Mr. Krause - Posted by: Sheri Gomez (nee Dahlin) (Student) on: Oct 12, 2025

  • I fondly remember Mr. Krause as my grade 3 teacher at Lord Wolseley School in the early 1980s. He was one of the best instructors I had in my entire academic life. Indeed he had a great sense of humor and made the learning process seem easy ~ I recall with a smile his penchant for Mickey Mouse memorabilia, whether it be a tie or his watch! I saw Mr. Krause at a restaurant some years back and I wish I had said a "hello". I hope he had a fulfilling life, as I know he made many a child's school year just that! Condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Kristin Haight (Student) on: Oct 12, 2025

  • Some teachers leave lessons that fade with time — but then there are those rare few whose impact lasts a lifetime. Mr. Krause was one of those teachers. I still remember his trademark Mickey Mouse watch, the way it caught the classroom light as he gestured, explaining something with that mix of patience and enthusiasm that made us want to learn. It wasn’t just the lessons in math or spelling that stayed with us — it was the spark he lit in our imaginations. He didn’t just teach; he invited us to think, to dream, and to believe in the power of our own ideas. For so many of us, Mr. Krause helped shape the way we approached the world ahead — with curiosity, kindness, and confidence. The creative minds he nurtured in that Grade 5 classroom went on to become artists, builders, leaders, and lifelong learners. And all of us carry a piece of his encouragement with us still. I am deeply grateful that, 49 years later, I had the privilege to see him again — at Smitty’s on Regent — and to simply say the words, “Thank you.” Not everyone gets that chance, and I will always treasure it. Rest in peace, Mr. Krause. Your lessons — and your laughter — live on in every one of us who had the honour of being your student. - Posted by: Jeff and Paul McWhinney (Students) on: Oct 11, 2025
