It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Emil Kucera on October 2, 2025, at the age of 80. Emil passed away peacefully in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Emil was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic) on April 5, 1945. He was predeceased by Blanka, his dear wife of 43 years.
Emil graduated from Charles University in Prague with a Ph.D. and after immigrating to Canada, held positions with the Universities of Alberta and Manitoba where he completed his Post-doctoral work. He ultimately settled in Winnipeg where he worked for the Province of Manitoba until his retirement. Emil was an avid reader, translator/interpreter, outdoorsman, horseman, and above all, a true gentleman.
Cremation has taken place, and no service will be held.
Rest in Peace...you will be missed and forever remembered.

Emil was such a fixture of our neighborhood dog park. Every day like clockwork he would ride by on his tall stately bicycle wearing a straw hat with a Great Dane trotting at his side. They would meet their dog friends and owners and even after his last dog passed Emil continued that tradition. He always had time to stop and chat.
