JOAN JUNE MARION KEACHIE

(BLACK)

Joan passed away peacefully at Concordia Place on October 11, 2025, at the age of 90.

She is lovingly remembered by her son Daniel, daughter Ruth (Bill); grandsons, Eric (Brooklyn) and Sean (Karina), granddaughter Kate (Hannah) and great-daughter Ava Joan. She was predeceased by her husband Don in 2018.

Joan grew up in Elmwood and East Kildonan and raised her family there. She enjoyed working at the Winnipeg Public Library for 37 years, retiring in 1994 to babysit her grandchildren, which were the joy of her life. She and Don enjoyed travelling and spending time at their cottage at Winnipeg Beach where they could often be found socializing on the Fifth Avenue pier. Joan also loved attending and volunteering at John Black Memorial United Church where she had many special friendships. She was also involved with Anxiety Disorders Association of Manitoba where she was a strong advocate for her son Dan.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful, caring and dedicated staff at Concordia Place, Unit 1, including Dr. Mihalchuk. We are grateful for the care that you provided to Joan in her last years living with dementia.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joan’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba or to a charity of one’s choice.
