Margaret Anne “Mags” Hamilton of Brandon Manitoba passed away peacefully in her chair, overlooking the city streets at Hillcrest Personal Care Home on October 11, 2025.
Margaret was born on January 6, 1940, in Auckland New Zealand to James Hamilton and Marion Anne Bailey. She was raised in Auckland and attended Saint Frances and Auckland Girls Grammar. She trained briefly as a nurse but was too tiny to do the job. She then worked at the TNG insurance company. Later in life she worked as a nurse’s aid at James Bay Lodge in Victoria.
She was married to Graham Hill on February 14, 1961, and they were married until August 1991. They had two children; Bryan Hill who is married to Kim Birto and Derek Hill who is married to Sarah Wood.
Mags enjoyed reading, listening to music and dancing with her best friend Bonnie Patterson. She also enjoyed travelling to New Zealand to visit her son and childhood and lifelong friend Pat Wotherspoon. Adventure and fun always ensued.
Margaret is survived by Bryan Hill and Kim Birto, Derek Hill and Sarah Wood and their children Pierson and Emma Hill.
Magaret was predeceased by both her parents James and Marion, her brother James Hamilton and her best friend since the age of five Pat Wotherspoon.
Mags loved animals, nature, and “joy in the garden.”
