VICTOR HERCUN

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Victor Joseph Hercun, who was born on October 3, 1936, in Dryden, Ontario, and passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Vic leaves behind his loving wife Rose, his children Chris (Len), Michelle (Brian), and Jamie (Lisa), along with many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous family and friends.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Vic's life was defined by his faith, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his community. A proud member of St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Vic served faithfully on the Parish Council for 28 years and was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. His faith guided his every action and was a cornerstone of his life.

Vic proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he was stationed in Quebec, Germany, and Cold Lake, Alberta. After his service, he began working with Dryden Pulp and Paper Mill, which brought him and his family to Brandon in 1968 when the company expanded its operations.

An avid volunteer, Vic dedicated countless hours to his community, especially within the curling world, serving at events such as the Olympic Trials, the Brier, and numerous local competitions. His dedication earned him Volunteer Recognition from the City of Brandon.

Outside of volunteering, Vic found great joy in spending time outdoors, whether on the golf course in the summer or at the ball diamond. Above all, he was happiest supporting his family, never missing an opportunity to watch, cheer, coach, or drive his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to their many activities.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327 4th Street, Brandon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vic's memory to the charity of your choice.

Vic will be remembered for his kind heart, steadfast faith, and the love and laughter he brought to all who knew him. His legacy of service and devotion will live on through his family and community.
