GIUSEPPE (JOE) CONICELLA

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppe "Joe" Conicella on October 24, 2025.

He will be lovingly remembered by his four children; Nick (Enza), Tony, John (Karen), and Anna (Greg); his four grandchildren; Alessandra (Vinay), Domonique (Vanessa), Bruno (Leona), Julianna (Brendan), and his two great-grandchildren, Isla and Freya. He will also be remembered by family in Italy including his sister Dina and his many nephews, nieces and cousins. Giuseppe was recently predeceased by his wife of 65 years Francesca, and also his parents, Nicola and Angela Marianna, and brother Antonio.

Giuseppe was born on February 15, 1935 in Torricella Peligna, Abruzzo Italy. After a brief stay in Switzerland, he immigrated to Canada in 1957. In 1960 he married Francesca Angelucci in Winnipeg, where they built a loving home and raised their family. Dad was initially sponsored by CPR and worked there for most of his work career until his retirement. He was also a talented finishing carpenter and built many kitchen cabinets and bars for many homes and businesses throughout the city. Dad could build or fix anything he put his mind to. If something didn’t exist that he needed, he would just invent one and build it.

Dad loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and bird enthusiast. He also joined leagues for bowling, bocce and took up golf at 65 years old.

He made extraordinary home made cured meats, that didn’t make it to the table, as his grandchildren devoured every slice just as it hit the plate. Dad loved to cook for us and share his homemade wines and designer grappa’s.

Since early childhood he had a passion and a gifted ear for music. His beloved accordion was never far from reach and accompanied him to every house party or special event for over 80 years. Dad played his accordion one last time for us, filled with pride and joy, surrounded by his family, watching his great-granddaughter dance to his music.

The Conicella home was always filled with the best of memories around the dinner table, a place where everyone was welcome. Nonno Joe found his greatest joy when surrounded by his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and puppies.

A private family service was held on October 30, 2025 at Thomson "In the Park".

Together with Mom now, may you find peace side by side. We love you and will miss you both immensely. Rest in peace.
