NAT LOWE
Nat Lowe died on October 28, 2025 in his home at the age of 94. He was predeceased by his parents, five siblings and son. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; sister Liz; daughter Ruth (Will); grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Nat was born in 1931 in Rivers, Manitoba and was the sixth of seven children.
His first love was flying. He bought his first plane in 1953. Despite being severely dyslexic, he earned both his Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License and Commercial Pilot License around 1955, and remained passionate about aviation his whole life. He restored many aircraft and was a founding member of Lyncrest Airport.
He found his second love when he met Dorothy at the bank where she worked in 1961. Through every season of his life, these two loves endured. Nat was a self-taught draftsman, engineer and inventor. But he always made time each Sunday for family, church and community service through church board positions and helping with events.
Nat’s passions were flying, sailing, building anything and family. He operated his own aircraft repair and salvage company, built a 36’ steel hulled sailboat from flat steel, built two houses and enough memories with all who knew him to last a lifetime.
A huge thank you to the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority Homecare and Palliative staff as well as all the family members that served as his caregivers during his final months.
A funeral service will be held at Season’s Funeral Chapel in Oakbank on November 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be livestreamed and can be viewed by visiting Nat's memorial page at seasonsfunerals.ca and clicking on Watch Webcast.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Adult and Teen Challenge.
