SANDY BEATTY

February 7, 1947 - October 25, 2025

It is with great love and deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sandy Beatty on October 25, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on February 7, 1947, Sandy lived a full and joyful life surrounded by family, friends, and plenty of laughter.

Sandy is lovingly remembered by his sons, Paul and Mark, their wives Kim and Margo, and his four beloved grandchildren - Sarah, Rhys, Mackenzie, and Grace - all of whom he was endlessly proud of. He is predeceased by his parents, Norman and Louise, and by his wife Valerie, the love of his life, who passed away in 2012. It brings comfort to imagine them together again - likely already planning their next road trip.

Sandy grew up in St. Vital, graduating from Glenlawn Collegiate. He spent 34 years with the Canada Revenue Agency, beginning in field audit and retiring as Chief of Appeals. Away from work, Sandy was happiest spending summers at Granite Lake or behind the wheel of a brand-new car. He’ll be missed not only by his family but also by the car salesmen of Manitoba - who may notice a dip in business now that he’s no longer trading in for the latest model.

In retirement, Sandy and Valerie loved their winter road trips exploring the southern United States. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with family - whether at the cottage, cheering from the sidelines at his grandchildren’s games, or sharing a good meal. A man of habit and heart, Sandy was known by name in his local restaurants and was always quick with a smile, a story, or a friendly tease.

He was also known for keeping phone calls short and goodbyes even shorter - a skill he carried with him to the very end, as he "circled the wagons" one final time in his own unique way.

Sandy’s love for family, quick wit, and gift for storytelling will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. His legacy lives on in the laughter he sparked and the memories he helped create - the kind that grow warmer with each retelling.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please take someone you care about out for lunch at your favourite greasy spoon, and then take the scenic route home - Sandy would love that.
