JAMES DOUGLAS (JIM) CURDT

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Douglas Curdt (Jim) on December 12, 2025, at Rest Haven Personal Care Home in Steinbach, Manitoba, after a lengthy illness.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Alice Curdt, and by his brother William Glenn Curdt. He is survived by his sisters, Eileen Winters and Pat Lecuyer, as well as their children and grandchildren, who will forever cherish his kindness, humour, and steady presence.

Born and raised in Manitoba, Jim spent most of his life on the family homestead near Sperling, where he and his brother Glenn farmed side by side. In the later years of his working life, Jim proudly spent 17 years doing pick ups and deliveries for Sperling Industries.

Jim and Glenn were known across the community for quietly stepping up whenever help was needed - erecting steel bins, helping with harvest, or a neighbour just short on hands - no request was ever too small. Jim was also an avid outdoorsman, happiest in the crisp air, with a deep appreciation for hunting, particularly with his musket or bow.

In recent years, we were fortunate to enjoy many wonderful visits with Jim, recounting stories of our family and the Sperling community. Those conversations - filled with memory, laughter, and gratitude - remain a blessing to us all.

Jim will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and the many neighbours whose lives were touched by his generosity. We would like to acknowledge the staff at Rest Haven for the support and attention they gave Jim, he and all of us fully appreciated the great care he received there.

Service details and memorial information will be shared when available.
