With profound sadness, the Kane family announces the passing of Brian Will Kane on December 18, 2025.
He was born on February 8, 1948, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and was the second child of three to parents, Al and Eileen Kane. He is survived by his brother, Roger (Kerry) Kane, and sister, Daphne (Bill) Chalmers.
The family moved to Calgary in 1957, where Brian grew up in the district of Wildwood. Brian was active in sports and was a wonderful singer and guitar player. Brian was a successful entrepreneur, involved in many businesses. He started Brian Kane Insurance, and eventually partnered with his middle son, Tim. Together, they formed BKI Risk Management, specializing in aviation, and oil and gas. He enjoyed many pastimes, including becoming an Instrument Flight Rated pilot. A lifetime accomplishment that he was extremely proud of.
Brian is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl; son Bradley (Nicole) and their children Cadence and Hailey; son Timothy (Penny) and their children Taylor and Brooklyn; son Todd (Stephie) and their children Fiona, Mila, and Flynn; his former wife Phyllis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Brian was a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather, and held his family close to his heart. Brian was a true gentleman. We shall never forget his warm smile, sense of humour, and his ability to make everyone he met feel special. We shall never forget his eyes, windows of such a loving soul.
A Celebration of life will be held in 2026. Details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Food Bank, cofoodbank.com.
