Sadly, we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother, Verla Bernice Toews, on December 17, 2025.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Atlantic-Garden City United Church (725 Atlantic Avenue, Winnipeg, MB).

It I with the heaviest of heart and the deepest of sorrow that we say farewell to truly amazing Aunty. Aunty Verla was a wonderful mother, grandmother and aunt and a great friend to many. She always put everyone before herself and did whatever she could to help anyone, family or friend. We are grateful for the happiness that she brought into our lives and we will miss her very much. Verla was simply a wonderful person. She always had a smile on her face, a positive outlook and a kind word to offer. She was obviously a pillar of strength for her family, and their devotion to her was evident. Verla will be missed. She was a part of AGCUC family and her friendship was a blessing to many of us. I cannot think of a time when Verla’s smile and cheer was not in the room. To Verla’s family, your mom was a lovely lady and a special part of the church in her helping and participating.
