Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAlan John Fanset
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alan John Fanset on December 20, 2025. Alan is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doreen Fanset, and his sons, Michael (Nicole) Fanset and Adam (Laura) Fanset. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Noah, Victoria, John, Abigail, and Isabelle. Alan was predeceased by his parents, George and Marion Fanset, and his brother, Robert Fanset.
Alan grew up on a farm on Roblin Boulevard in Headingley, learning the value of hard work from a young age. He loved snowmobiling and raced throughout Canada and the United States. Alan completed a grueling international race in the late 1960s, riding the full 500 miles from Winnipeg to St. Paul, Minnesota.
Alan was well respected in the heavy construction industry. He began his career with Taillieu Construction, where he worked for 35 years. He later moved on to start his own company, Fanset Construction, with his wife and two sons.
Alan was steadfastly loyal. He did not wear his emotions on his sleeve but would do anything for the people he loved. He was happiest spending time at his cottage on Falcon Lake. He loved playing golf at Falcon and being on the dock with family and friends. In his prime, Alan was known to spend most weekends in the boat, towing enthusiastic kids on skis or the tube.
Alan was a lifelong sports fan and held season tickets for the Bombers and the Jets. He also loved watching his grandchildren play hockey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Association.
All those wishing to join in celebrating Alan’s life are invited to attend a service on January 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd, Winnipeg.
Alan will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. The dock at Falcon will not be the same without him.

Doreen, Michael, Adam and family I am deeply saddened for your loss. Alan and Doreen meant a great deal to me growing up and were such an important part of my childhood and I will always be grateful for those memories. Alan seemed tough on the outside, but underneath that was a kindness I'll always remember weather we were painting the cottage or cutting the grass he showed great patience for a young annoying kid. I'm grateful to have know Alan all these years and will be sure to visit him on the dock, rest easy my friend. - Posted by: Michael Roberts (Friend) on: Jan 06, 2026
