Heinrich Wiebe

March 18, 1938 – December 25, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our loving father Heinrich Wiebe.

Heinrich was born in Paraguay, South America along with six siblings to parents Henry and Lydia Wiebe. The family immigrated to Canada in 1956, where he met the love of his life, Katharina Koop. They married on September 14,1958 and built a beautiful life together in Winnipeg. They had four children, Tom, Dave, Jessie (Jim), and Elfrieda, who blessed them with four grandchildren, Michelle, Chris, Danielle, and Kane, and six great-grandchildren, Ada, Cameron, Henry, Trevor, Elias, and Mavis.

Heinrich was predeceased by his loving wife Katharina in May 2017, as well as his sister Anne and brother George. He is survived by siblings, Albert, Ed, Helmut, and Peter.

Even though he was visually impaired, he developed a keen interest in gardening and maintaining a beautiful yard. For many years, he was proud to have been responsible for planting and maintaining the flower beds at Lions Manor. In 1983 he received his Fifth Class Power Engineer Certificate which allowed him to continue working as a Maintenance Engineer. A man of great faith, he attended church on a regular basis and practiced his faith in his everyday life.

Heinrich had the biggest heart and was forever volunteering to help others. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was the most positive person and would always speak of everything for which he was grateful. As a resident of Donwood Manor for the last nine years, he was thankful that he lived in such a wonderful place where he enjoyed so many lasting friendships.

Heinrich passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at Concordia Hospital after a brief illness. The family gives a special thank you to the incredible staff at Concordia Hospital for providing such excellent care during his final days.

His funeral will take place at North Kildonan MB Church, 1315 Gateway Rd, on Tuesday January 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. It will be available to view remotely via streaming services. rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2
