It is with deep sadness, that we announce the sudden, unexpected death of Olga on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the St. Boniface Hospital.
Olga will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband, best friend and love of her life, Steve Prusak. Steve and Olga were married for 66 years. Steve would always call her “His Girl.” He was enchanted by Olga every single day. Their life together was a beautiful, romantic love story. Also left to cherish her memory is her sister Debbie Young (Dale); nieces and nephews, Sylvia Berthelot (Dan), Joey, Ryan, John Ruckstucl (Sue) Jamie, Michael, Taylor Young, Maci and Cooper.
Olga was predeceased by her parents, John and Sylvia Haliuk and sister Judy Palumbo.
Olga was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan in 1940. She attended school in Poplarfield, MB and St. Vital, Winnipeg, where she graduated from secretarial college. She met Steve in Wawa, ON while visiting her grandma. They fell in love and were married in 1959. Steve’s career at Inco took them to Thompson, MB where they lived a happy life for 33 years until Steve’s retirement brought them back to Winnipeg. They purchased a cottage in Sioux Narrows, ON and spent 25 beautiful years enjoying Lake of the Woods.
Olga was head secretary in Thompson for ten years at Winnipeg Supply. She then became a full-time homemaker extraordinaire. She was a volunteer at the Thompson Hospital for many years and enjoyed her time as the local Avon Lady, winning numerous sales awards.
Olga was a character, beautiful in appearance and super organized. She especially loved the family events and dinners. She enjoyed her neighbours at the condo on Pembina Hwy and was making many new friends at their new residence at the Canoe Club.
Olga’s wishes were for cremation, and a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Interment will take place then, at St. Vital Cemetery.
Olga, you will be missed and fondly remembered.
