SHANE DAVID DYCK
Tragically, on Monday, January 26, 2026, Shane David Dyck of Falcon Lake, left this world (realm) at the age of 27.
Shane is survived by his loving parents, Kristin Popoff and Kevin Dyck; his brother Riley Dyck; his Nan, Roberta Popoff; his aunts and uncles, Darla Hooker (Rob Hester), David Popoff, Garry Dyck (Carol), Darryl Dyck (Corey), Nadine Mitchell (Barry), and Stuart Dyck (Colleen), and his many, many cousins.
He is predeceased by his Pa, Jacob Popoff, and his Grandma and Grandpa, Laura and Ike Dyck.
Shane had many interests. He had a deep love of music and poetry, and wrote many rap songs. Shane was very spiritual - he had an incredible knowledge of all the religions of the world, past and present. Shane loved nature and the outdoors, and taking walks through the woods. He also enjoyed skiing, skating, playing hockey, biking, running, swimming, and working out, and loved his summers spent at the family cottage at Victoria Beach. Shane had a clever wit about him and an amazing sense of humour, and loved making people laugh. Shane had compassion for his fellow human - he loved his family and friends. Shane faced many struggles in his life and he is now at peace.
There will be no service at this time. A private ceremony will be held at a later date.
If friends so desire, donations in Shane’s memory may be made to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
We would like to say a special thanks to: Sylvia and Jeff Friesen for their love, support, prayers, and guidance to us, as well as to Shane. Kris Bachmeier from Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach and to all of our family and friends for their patience, love, and support.

I met Shane,(Nytro to his friends) through my bf, his 'brotha from anotha mutha' Adam, (Bishop) a couple of far too short years ago when Adam asked if his brother, Nytro, a guy who he'd met while serving time in Stony Mountain, and became solid bro's with could stay at my place for awhile when he came to Winnipeg from Falcon Lake. And never even having met this guy, or even creeped on his Fb profile, I said sure. Your family is my family. And my door is ALWAYS open to family. So he gets dropped off at my door. He was nothing like I expected. I was waiting for some big, gruff, tatted up guy, and here was this innocent looking, fresh faced kid with not a drop of ink on him, who looked barely old enough to shave or drive! Let alone to have served time in the penitentiary! Shane and I quickly became good friends. He was the same age as the older of my own two sons and reminded me of my younger one. And was even of Mennonite heritage as were my boys and myself to some extent. Well we had somehow gotten to talking about religion as we all know he loved, and he suddenly, randomly spurts or1ut, 'Jesus in French is jk1r11r15r1rr⁵11th r6 333. - Posted by: Amelia (Amy) Cotie (Friend, street sister, street mom) on: Feb 28, 2026

I remember speaking with a young Shane in the aurora dome of the Northern Studies Center in Churchill about 12 years ago. He was such a pleasant young guy with plans and dreams of a bright future. Kevin, Kristin, Riley, we were heartbroken to learn of his struggles and passing. Janice and I would like to express our most heartfelt condolences to you at this most challenging time. God Bless. - Posted by: Darrell and Janice Kinley (Family friends) on: Feb 14, 2026
