Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My sweet Uncle Stan. I am so sorry to hear that he has passed away. We always looked forward to having Uncle Stan come to visit us in Calgary. All my family, friends, neighbours and the staff at my mom's nursing home were always asking when Uncle Stan would be coming to visit. A few of the staff called him "Uncle Sam", I never corrected them :) Uncle Stan had a unique way of making everyone feel extra special and he was loved by all. I would cringe in embarrassment when Uncle Stan would call out across the airport" Hello beautiful Marion". There was no doubt that Uncle Stan always made a dramatic entrance. Uncle Stan was so proud when I surprised him at the airport and had him presented with a white cowboy hat. Uncle Stan and I had so many fun times, from visiting mom in the nursing home to deciding what we would have for dinner. The world was a much better place when Stan was in it. I will miss my favorite uncle, but I know he is in heaven now telling stories and having a great time. Uncle Stan lived his best life and I am thankful I was able to get to know him. - Posted by: Marion Smolinski (Niece) on: Mar 10, 2026

  • Credit Stan with helping me launch my career as a CGA/CPA. Worked under his supervision back in the 60's and forever grateful for the support and encouragement he provided. Enjoyed our fishing and hunting trips in those and later years, and never forget Stan's infectious laugh through many good times. Sincere condolences to Stan Jr and the rest of the family.
