FRIEDERIKE (NINA) BISUTTI
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Mother and "Nonna" at the extraordinary age of ¬¬¬97 years. Leaving behind to cherish her memory are daughter, Laura, grandchildren, Joel, Josh, and Julia; daughter, Franca; son-in-law, Barry; sister, Lotte (Lieselotte); along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Italo; sisters, Walli and Margaret; and brothers, Erwin and Ernst.
Mom was born in the village of Unterwaltersdorf, Austria. Her family moved north to the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia where they lived for many years, eventually settling in Bavaria, Germany. In 1953 mom immigrated to Winnipeg, MB, Canada. She worked as a hairdresser by trade and was proud to have managed her own beauty salon for several years. In 1956 mom met dad and they were married one year later on August 31, 1957.
Mom had many interests which she pursued with a great deal of curiosity and enthusiasm. She was an excellent seamstress and could sew anything. Self-taught, she made many clothes for her children. In later years mom made most of her clothing, beautiful creations sewn to perfection. Mom was also an accomplished cook. Although her culinary skills leaned more toward the Italian kitchen, her German pflaumen kuchen was delicious and enjoyed by all. Over the years she would knit mittens, scarves, toques, various toys, and more. She refinished old furniture, painted and wall-papered, ripped out old rugs, and cleaned out old attics. She did it all, with perseverance and much satisfaction. She was also an amazing swimmer. She loved the water, whether it was a small pool in the back yard or the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Italy in the beautiful resorts of Villa Rosa and Lignano. Mom was also a voracious reader since childhood. She must have read thousands of books. Indeed, this was her favourite pastime. She also had a talent for language and spoke German, English, and Italian with a fluency that was impressive. Both mom and dad enjoyed travelling to Italy and Germany during their retirement, which they did for 17 years. There were also good times spent with friends and family, eating, drinking, laughing, and singing, well into the night.
Mom's generosity will never be forgotten. She gave to everyone with great love and we will remember this very special kindness.
Mom loved her grandchildren very much. She was always interested in their lives and was happy to see them grow up and pursue their own interests. There were many lively conversations within our family, as mom enjoyed sharing her opinions openly, expressed with great conviction. Mom had a feisty side. We laughed and laughed, and more memories were made.
Mom, it was a joy to have you with us for so very many years. We will remember you dearly and hold you, with great love, in our hearts forever.
A special thank you to every single person who took great care of our mom at Misericordia Place, an outstanding personal care home that provides the very best care. Your respect, kindness, gentleness, devotion, and love were always evident in the way you interacted with mom. She had a special place in her heart for all of you.
Mom is to be reunited with dad in the Bisutti Family Mausoleum located in Domanins, Friuli, Northern Italy. Until we meet again...
