Gerhard Dyck passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at Holy Family Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 94.
He is survived by his loving wife Anna Dyck (Friesen), sons Karl Dyck (Brenda Dyck), Paul Dyck (Lucy Payette), Alvin Dyck (Leesa Fast), and son-in-law Robert Dorbolo. Preceded in death by daughter Marlies Dyck. Grandchildren Zöe Dyck, Owen Dyck, Cameron Dorbolo, Devin Dorbolo, Michael Dorbolo, and Liam Payette-Dyck, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Gerhard was born in the Chortiza Mennonite colony. His early years were difficult - his father died in a labour camp when Gerhard was only nine and Second World War began. After a dramatic exodus, he arrived in Winnipeg in 1948.
In Canada, he built a fulfilling life as a professional engineer and a wonderful father. He led an active life with family and a large group of close friends.
Gerhard will be buried at the Lichtenau Mennonite Cemetery at a later date.
