MIRIAM YVONNE WRIGHT
Miriam Yvonne Wright (nee Malenfant), of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Born and raised in Elmwood, Miriam attended Glenelm and Lord Selkirk schools. From a young age, Miriam always loved movies, especially musicals, and enjoyed singing in choirs.
While her career varied in her early years, she truly found her passion as an early childhood educator, her specialty being children with exceptional needs. Children always took to her kind and gentle manner and beautiful smile.
In retirement, she loved to travel with her beloved husband to Europe and various cities in the United States, including their most recent trip to Hawaii.
Miriam was blessed with five grandchildren that she loved dearly. She could always be seen reading to them, playing and singing with them, and baking special treats. Not to mention the countless hockey and soccer games, wrestling tournaments, piano and drum recitals, and horse riding and swimming lessons that she would always be at with a proud heart.
Miriam is survived by her husband of 60 years, Brian; son Bruce (Robin); daughter Katherine (Pascal); her five grandchildren, Andoni, Olivia, Griffin, Illan, and Scarlett; nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
A funeral service will be held at St. Saviours Anglican Church (690 Munroe Ave.) at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to CancerCare Manitoba or the charity of your choice.
